Manual Jewellery Designing Programme – Level 2

Course Content:

  1. Orthographic Views: Students will get to learn how to create technical drawings of jewellery designs using orthographic views, allowing for precise and accurate manufacturing. Ornaments in Orthographic Views
    1. Rings: Students will get to learn advanced techniques for designing and manufacturing rings, including various styles, settings, and materials.
    2.  Balis: Students will get to learn the design and manufacturing of Balis, including traditional and contemporary styles, settings, and materials.
    3. Cuff Links: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing cuff links, including various styles, settings, and materials.
  2. Men’s Jewellery: Students will get to learn about the design and manufacturing of men’s jewellery, including different styles, settings, and materials.
    1. Kurta Buttons: This course would teach you about the design and manufacturing of Kurta buttons, including traditional and contemporary styles, materials, and techniques.
    2. Tie Pins: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing tie pins, including various styles, settings, and materials.
    3. Brooches: This course would teach you about the design and manufacturing of brooches, including traditional and contemporary styles, materials, and techniques.
    4. Kalangi/Sarpech: This course would teach you about the design and manufacturing of brooches, including traditional and contemporary styles, materials, and techniques.
  3. History of Jewellery: Students will get to learn of the history of jewellery, including significant eras, styles, and movements.
  4. Enamelling Techniques: Students will get to learn the various enamelling techniques used in jewellery design, including Champlevé, Cloisonné, Basse Taille Plique-à-Jour & Painted Enamelling.
  5. Jewellery Traditions of India : Students will get to learn of the various jewellery traditions in India, including their history, styles, and significance.
    1. South Indian Jewellery: This course would focus on the unique styles and techniques used in the design and manufacturing of South Indian jewellery, including temple jewellery and Nagercoil jewellery.
    2. Temple Jewellery: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing temple jewellery, including various styles, settings, and materials.
    3. Closed Setting: This course would teach you about the closed setting technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
    4. Pachi Setting: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing Pachi set jewellery, including various styles, settings, and materials.
    5. Kundan & Minakari Jewellery: This course would provide you with an in-depth understanding of Kundan and Minakari jewellery techniques, including their history, styles, and significance.
    6. Kundan Setting: This course would teach you about the Kundan setting technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
    7. Thappa: This course would teach you about the Thappa technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
    8. Minakari Techniques: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing Minakari jewellery, including various styles, settings, and materials.
  1. Reviving of the Dying Indian Jewellery Craftsmanship: Students will get to learn about efforts to revive dying Indian jewellery craftsmanship and techniques, including the challenges and opportunities involved.
  • a. Thewa: This course would teach you about the Thewa technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
  • b. Silver Hupari Payal: This course would provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques for designing and manufacturing Silver Hupari Payal, including various styles, settings, and materials.
  • c. Bidri: This course would teach you about the Bidri technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
  • d. Taraksi: This course would teach you about the Taraksi technique in jewellery design, including its use, advantages, and limitations.
  1. Techniques and Fundamentals of Jewellery Manufacturing: This course would provide you with an in-depth understanding of the techniques and fundamentals.
  2. Jewellery Budgeting: This course would provide you with an understanding of jewellery budgeting of gold jewellery, diamond jewellery, kundan jewellery including cost estimation, pricing strategies, and profit margins and much more helping you become an entrepreneur.

Course Duration: The Manual Jewellery Designing Programme Level 2 will be completed in 60 sessions, Monday to Friday-2.5 Hours in 3 months.

Course Outcome: The Manual Jewellery Designing Programme Level 2 will enable students to advance their skills and techniques in jewellery design. They will learn about different types of jewellery such as rings, balis, cuff links, men’s jewellery, kurta buttons, tie pins, and brooches. The course will also cover enameling techniques, jewellery traditions of India, and techniques for reviving the dying Indian jewellery craftsmanship. Students will gain knowledge about different types of settings such as closed setting, pachi setting, kundan and minakari jewellery, and thappa. The course will also teach students about jewellery budgeting, the fundamentals of jewellery manufacturing, redoing old jewellery, and understanding jewellery business. Students are ready to become entrepreneurs. Practical projects, assignments, and portfolio assistance will enable students to apply their learning and prepare them for the end of the Programme theory and practical examination.
